My Story
My work is guided by emotion. I translate those emotions into a form that feels right for the question, the commission, or the moment. I work across different mediums, including illustration, photography, words and imagery — and preferably, a combination of them. Artistic work with the intention of bringing people together; helping us connect with our own emotions, as well as with the people around us.
I live with Sebastiaan and our four children in what I consider the most beautiful place in the Netherlands, surrounded by woods and animals. I love reading, dreaming, and talking with people. I'm also the singer in a Blues Rock band, and whenever I get the chance, I dance barefoot. :–)
I have been fortunate enough to experience many beautiful things in my life, and I am deeply grateful for them. But my life has also known profound sadness and loss. The loss of our beautiful son, Tygo, who passed away suddenly and far too soon, changed my life more than anything else ever has.
My desire to connect — with people, with the world, and with one another — and to share in each other's lives and offer support when it is needed, has become a thread running through both my work and the way I live.
Sometimes, something I've created is exactly what you're looking for, and you'll find it in my webshop. Perhaps it's the card you were looking for to send to someone dear to you, or a little something to lift a friend's spirits. You'll also find my lovingly drawn little doodles and monsters here. It's an ever-growing collection of drawings that capture and express emotions — sweet and playful as a card, but also available as wall stickers or on a T-shirt.
Joy and sorrow come from the same place: the heart.
